James S. Thomson House

Built in 1875 it was the first house in Glasgow with running water, and also incorporated many modern conveniences such as brass voice tubes, central acetylene gas for lighting, a skylight an attic-mounted cistern to collect rain water for the plumbing, and trap doors in the baseboards to sweep dirt into chutes that went to the basement.
